Georgian cynology obtained an official status in 1991 when the Fédération Cynologique de Géorgie (FCG) was founded. In 1997 the FCG joined the Fédération Cynologique Internationale (FCI) as a contract partner. From 2001 the Fédération Cynologique de Géorgie became an associated FCI member. From the day of its creation, the Georgian Federation plays a noticeable role in European cynology, it has close business liaisons with kennel organizations from multiple European countries. Both National and International dog shows organized by the FCG on the regular basis and invariably high level are being gaining popularity from year to year among cynological communities from many countries of the world.
